Family enjoying winter sun in Greenwich park during a photo shoot

This is the place I know best.

Every path, every pocket of light, every quiet corner.

I’ve been based in Greenwich for over 26 years and there’s a reason most of my family sessions happen within a mile or two of home. I know where the evening light falls through the trees in all the parks, which streets stay quiet on a Saturday morning, and the spots that feel completely private even in the middle of SE10. When you book a Greenwich family session with me, you get a photographer who isn’t just visiting, it’s our neighbourhood through my lens.

why Greenwich

There’s a reason Greenwich families like yours choose to stay local

Greenwich has something most locations can’t offer, variety within walking distance. We can start in the park, my favourite one in the whole of London! we. can wander near the Maritime Museum and Old Royal Naval College, and finish by the river near the Cutty Sark, all without getting in a car. The light here shifts beautifully between one tree hill and the avenues, it gives every session a sense of place that feels both timeless and meaningful to you. Especially if, like me, you’ve spent long days here with the kids.

I’ve photographed families in Greenwich Park in every season. The famous Spring blossom, summer evenings and birthday parties in the flower garden, or maybe a spot with a view of Canary Wharf glowing behind, autumn leaves turning in the avenues amongst the evergreen trees mid-winter. Each one looks completely different and individually beautiful.

Whether we stay in the park or explore the town, the river, the backstreets around Royal Hill or the market your photos will feel rooted in a real place that’s familiar to you.

The simple fact is, you won’t regret it.

My Approach

Family life moves in phases, each one precious and incredibly brief. The age they are right now, the way your youngest reaches for their big brother’s hand, the chaos and tenderness that fill an ordinary afternoon, this version of your family is already quietly changing.

I work through observation and gentle direction. I’m not interested in stiff poses or forced smiles. I’m watching for the moments in between, the giggling, the whispering, the running ahead. My job is to notice them and frame them beautifully.

Because I shoot in Greenwich so often, I can focus entirely on your family rather than figuring out the location. I already know where to stand, where to walk next, and when the light is about to do something lovely. That familiarity shows up in the photographs

GREENWICH FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY

I’M ANDREA

Family photographer, Greenwich local.

I’ve lived and worked in Greenwich for 26 years, I’ve raised my children here and it has shaped the way I work. There’s a groundedness to this part of London, the wealth of green space and urban texture that I think that comes through in my photography. I’m drawn to real moments in real places, not manufactured perfection.

My abiding memories of growing up were leafing through stacks of old family photo albums, memories and personalities frozen in time. That feeling never left me, and it’s what I want your family to experience when they look at their photos. Your story, with you in it.

Since 2011 I’ve photographed hundreds of families, many of them right here in Greenwich and Blackheath. Some prefer relaxed sessions at home. Others want to explore the park, the riverside, the quiet residential streets. Both approaches create natural, meaningful images, and we can always combine the two.

HOW IT WORKS

01.

Secure Your Date

So you’ve had a look around and you know I’m the photographer for your shoot in Greenwich. You’ve got a good feel for how I work and are excited to start planning.

You’ve seen my recent family photography sessions and want your own photo shoot. Next step is to familiarise yourself with the pricing structure it’s super easy, there’s a session fee (this secures your date) and then there’s the image collection fee.

Use the contact form to get in touch with any questions and to find out my available dates.

02.

Planning your session

Once we found a date that works, I’ll open your online client portal where you’ll complete your booking form, this helps me to get to know you and your family a bit better and understand what you want most from the shoot.

This is the perfect time to think about having the shoot at home (read my what to expect article here) or outdoors in this lovely part of London, you can always combine both! Greenwich offers beautiful options from the park and the Old Royal Naval College to quieter residential streets.

Choosing what to wear is important to the overall look and feel of your images, if you need help with this I’ve got you, I can send some guidance.

On the day

Every family is different. So every session is unique, I’m led by the kids and their needs throughout. When there’s a relaxed atmosphere, you and your kids will shine. Try not to have too many preconceived ideas about how your session will evolve or how your kids will react.

If you make the focus of your time connecting, exploring and chatting with your loved ones, sometimes ignoring the fact I’m there, we’ll have an incredible outcome. The magic happens when we let go.

I’ll guide you when needed, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot, just so we have the best light and flattering angles.

Plan for up two hours with me, we can break for snacks and chats. I’m yet to hear a client say it hasn’t flown by!

04.

After your session

I will hand edit the very best images from your online gallery. There will be at least 60 in total but often there is more. Any unflattering or less than perfect images will not make the cut.

Within 2-4 weeks you’ll receive a link to your gallery. You can view a beautiful slideshow of the highlights and then all the edited images from your session.

This is when you decide which collection you’d like to purchase, if you haven’t already. Once you’ve chosen the entire shop will open and you can purchase add ons such as prints, albums and frames.

INVESTMENT

Every booking begins with a £350 session fee, which secures your date and covers our time together, approximately 90 minutes of photography, plus the full edit of your gallery. You then choose the collection below that suits your family.

FAQ

Your questions answered

Greenwich is full of wonderful locations for family photography. I love shooting in Greenwich Park, around the town and along the quieter streets of Greenwich and by the river near the Cutty Sark. Each spot has its own character and I’ll help you choose the right backdrop for your family. Other options include Oxleas Woods for a wilder feel and North Greenwich for a more urban approach.

Absolutely. Home is often my favourite backdrop of all. It’s where the real everyday moments happen, breakfast in pyjamas, building dens, cuddles on the sofa. Years from now, photographs taken in your own home often become the most meaningful because they take you straight back to this chapter of family life.

Greenwich family sessions last approximately 90 minutes to two hours, giving us enough time to warm up, let the children settle, and move between locations without feeling rushed.

London family photographer

Every season works. Spring brings blossom in the park, summer gives us long golden evenings, autumn is all warm colour and falling leaves, and winter has a quiet beauty, evergreen trees, snow on one-tree-hill, low light, wrapped-up cuddles and hot chocolate from The Cafe.

Great question! I find it’s useful for you to talk to them and let them know exactly what is going to happen. Explain how it’s going to be so much fun (it is!), talk them through step by step what to expect so they’re mentally prepared.

My style is definitely more observational as opposed to posed so if you have favourite games that you like to play or you know what really get your children laughing then by all means employ every technique on the day! Whatever you do, don’t discipline them for not smiling or cooperating. Leave it to me to make it lots of fun on the day!

Light cloud, mist, even light rain can be gorgeous in Greenwich, the park takes on a completely different mood. If conditions are genuinely unworkable, we reschedule. No one gets forced into a miserable session.

That’s completely normal. My sessions are relaxed and child-led, so children can play, explore and be themselves. Often the photos parents love most come from those in-between, slightly chaotic moments.

Soft, neutral or earthy tones work beautifully against Greenwich’s greens and stonework and for at-home sessions.

Avoid large logos or harsh contrasting colours. Comfort matters more than perfection, and coordination is better than matching. I can send detailed guidance once you’ve booked.

AREAS I COVER

I photograph families across Greenwich, South East London, and beyond. Some of my favourite areas to shoot include Greenwich Park, around the town and rover and Old Royal Naval College, Blackheath, Charlton House, Deptford, Lewisham, Dulwich, Canary Wharf, Woolwich, Eltham and Oxleas Woods.

I’m also happy to travel further afield, just ask.
