Greenwich Family Photoshoot

A Relaxed Greenwich Family Photoshoot With a Four Month Old
This Greenwich family photoshoot was as gentle as they come. Mum, dad, and their four month old baby met me by the Cutty Sark. It was a beautiful sunny morning, not yet too hot but we could feel the warm sunshine on our faces.
Why they chose Greenwich
Some families pick a spot for the photos. This family picked it for the feeling. That matters far more than any backdrop. They don’t live in Greenwich. Still, they adore the area, knew I was local and trusted me to get some beautiful family photos.
We started slowly. First we just wandered and chatted. Then the baby settled into mum’s arms, wide awake and curious. So we let the morning set its own pace.
A calm start with a curious baby
At four months old, this little one was all big eyes and soft cheeks. She looked up at every face, then back at the leaves above. Mum swayed gently while we talked. Meanwhile dad stayed close, one hand always resting on the baby.
I love this age for a reason. Babies are alert now, but they are still so small. Their expressions come thick and fast. Also, parents have usually found their rhythm by month four.
Dad, the tree, and a song I could not forget
Then came my favourite part. Dad carried the baby to a big tree and began to sing. It was quiet and a little silly, just for her. She stared right at him, completely still. The song stuck in my head for weeks. Honestly, I was still humming it days later. Moments like this are why I photograph families the way I do. So I stay back, and I let them be.
A relaxed Greenwich family photoshoot and all the Greenwich locations
After the tree, we kept moving through the park and The Queens House and The Old Royal Naval College. Sunlight fell soft through the branches and the columns. Baby grabbed at dad’s collar, then grinned at mum. Nobody posed, and nobody tried too hard. We caught yawns, tiny fingers, and a few sleepy blinks. Because the family felt relaxed, the real moments simply happened.
Little details I loved
Small things make these mornings. A yawn, a stretch, a hand around one finger. Baby rested on mum’s shoulder for a while. After that, she woke up and studied us all over again. Dad lifted her up high, and she gave a proper smile. Mum laughed at the sight of it. In fact, most of my favourite frames came from these easy in between beats.
Why a relaxed session like this works so well
Babies do not perform on cue. That is completely fine with me. Instead of rushing, we give them room. A calm pace means fewer tears and more real smiles. Because nobody feels watched, parents soon forget the camera. Then the sweet, ordinary moments arrive on their own.
Every family is different, and that is the joy of it. Some babies sleep, while others want to look around. Either way, we simply follow their mood. Greenwich Park gives us space to roam too. So we find shade, soft grass, and quiet corners. My job is to notice the small, true things.
