Greenwich Family Portrait Session

Greenwich Family Portrait Session

Katie’s mum bought her a family portrait session gift voucher for Christmas. Great timing as they’ve put their house on the market and wanted to get some shots of them in their old home. This is such a great idea. Whilst home is wherever the family are together, houses hold many memories. Having photos that remind them of the fun they had, remind the children of what life was like there in years to come; it’s important and something you may only see the importance of after it’s too late.

Not only did they want their home captured but they wanted family photos too. Two energetic, parents up for a bit fun and a big bed made this photo session so much fun! I bring some games to play to get the fun going during the session… we rarely complete each game, kids only need minimum of help getting into the world of imagination. My games are there to give them an initial boost and then I love following their lead to see where it ends up!

We read stories (I say we, the kids read whilst Mum, Dad and I listened!), I’ve never seen too boys more engrossed in a story. It was lovely to watch. We also headed to Greenwich park which was 2 mins away and I got to follow these guys as they ran and chased each other up hills, down hills and around trees!

Obviously, they’re only moving to the other side of Greenwich.

It’s an honour to photograph all families that hire me, it’s an honour to photograph them twice and even three times! Though it’s a huge honour to photograph the extended family too. This was the third shoot shoot with Rebecca and her family. A regular family session the first time, the next was with Rebecca’s mother and this time it was with the in-laws. They were visiting from Scotland so it was a brilliant opportunity to get some shots of them altogether.

I thoroughly enjoyed walking around Greenwich with these guys, not least because Bryce and Florence who have been married for 58 years held hands the whole way! Too cute and a real inspiration.

We took a walk through Greenwich for this session and if you’d like to do the same for yours just let me know! You can give me a call on 07793053318 or email me using the contact form.

This was the second shoot with Shann and her family and it was so great to see them again. We met at Island Gardens, just through the foot tunnel and made the walk back into Greenwich where we took in all the sights. Some of my favourite photos came from this shoot. I particularly love the city scene shots near the bottom.

We were so lucky with the weather, as a London Family Portrait Photographer  – Greenwich a light cloud covering but still bright enough to feel sunny and warm is what I call perfect weather! If you’d like to beat the rush and book your family photo session then please do get in touch contact@andreawhelan.com

This was the fourth session with Tracy and Leila and it was amazing to see how much she’s changed. The colours are just stunning as I’m sure you’ll agree. Spring is my favourite time of year to take family photographs, right after Autumn. Truth be told, I love all the seasons. We’re so lucky to live in a country that brings such variety in out surroundings.

Booking a family portrait session is one of the things that’s easy to put off until the ‘time is right’. The things is, the time is right now! Yes you have millions of photos of your kids on your phone or even on your camera but how many are you in that are not selfies? My guess is not enough. Make it happen, not just for you but for you children. Don’t underestimate how important those photos will be to you children in years to come.

So why not make a change, embrace and start to love photos of yourself, you won;t be sorry!

If you’d like me to take your family photos then get in touch, as a Blackheath child portrait photographer I’d love nothing more than to hear from you contact@andreawhelan.com

Nancy’s husband got in touch because he wanted to book a session with me for her birthday. What a lovely thoughtful gift (husbands of the world take note!)

I arrived at their beautiful house in Blackheath on a sunny June afternoon. We took some shots as everyone was getting ready to leave for the park. India and Albert are just adorable and as it was afternoon they’d just come back from school, meaning they were feeling a bit sleepy before I arrived. Nothing a quick trip to the park won’t fix! So we packed up the car and headed across the heath to Greenwich Park. The pictures speak for themselves, we had an absolute blast! I just love these photos and I hope you do too. You can see more family sessions here, or more Greenwich Park sessions here or you can just go right ahead and book your session by calling me on 07793053318.

I love photography families with young children. It’s unpredictable, it’s busy and it’s so much fun! I don’t have a standard procedure for my sessions, I prefer to follow the kids lead and let it all unravel naturally. I love starting in the home, it’s important to me to capture the family environment, then move to the local park for some fun outdoor shots. If you’re thinking about booking a session with me then this is what I’ll probably suggest. Meeting kids on their own territory is important for me. It ensures they’re really comfortable and relaxed and usually they want to show me round and introduce me to their 100 million cuddly toys. I love getting into role plays with the children and fully embracing their creativity and imagination.
